Development of hysteretic model for LEM-filled CFS shear walls under cyclic loading

Wanqian Wang et al.

Summary: A hysteretic model for seismic analysis of LEM-filled CFS shear walls is developed in this paper, which provides a meaningful theoretical basis for assessing their seismic response. The skeleton and hysteretic curves generated by the model show great agreements with test results, validating its accuracy. This method contributes to evaluating the seismic performance of LEM-filled CFS shear walls.

Numerical models comparison for fluid-viscous dampers: Performance investigations through Genetic Algorithm

Raffaele Cucuzza et al.

Summary: In this paper, nine different fluid-viscous damper models were compared to evaluate their ability to match experimental outputs in terms of accuracy and robustness. The results show that differential equations better fit the experimental cycles, and that only a few models in the series can offer a high level of both accuracy and robustness.

A computational framework for large-scale seismic simulations of residential building stock

Sebastiano Marasco et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a computational framework for assessing the seismic vulnerability and damage of residential building portfolios in urban areas. The proposed approach uses surrogate models and Monte Carlo simulations to account for uncertainties, and is validated through finite element models and a real case study. The main achievement is the introduction of a simplified approach for large scale structural analyses that limits computational efforts while providing reasonable results.

Seismic vulnerability and resilience of steel-reinforced concrete (SRC) composite column buildings with non-seismic details

W. M. Hassan et al.

Summary: This study aims to provide nonlinear modeling parameters for SRC columns, develop fragility, vulnerability, and resilience functions for older-type buildings with non-seismic details SRC columns, and assess the ASCE 41-17 SRC column modeling recommendations. The research shows that the ASCE 41-17 criteria significantly underestimates structural capacity and resilience while overestimating seismic fragility and vulnerability, with collapse probability overestimated by 30-50% for moderate ground shaking and by 5-15% for intense ground shaking.

Integrated platform to assess seismic resilience at the community level

Sebastiano Marasco et al.

Summary: The paper introduces an integrated platform that implements a community hybrid model with real-time simulation capabilities to assess seismic resilience and vulnerability of critical infrastructures at the urban level. Different seismic scenarios have been applied to a large-scale virtual city model, proving the platform's effectiveness in analyzing emergencies and implementing countermeasures to improve community response and overall resilience.

Cyclic performance tests and numerical analysis of prefabricated CFS shear walls filled with lightweight EPS mortars

Wanqian Wang et al.

Summary: This study focused on the cyclic performance of prefabricated CFS shear walls filled with lightweight EPS mortars, designed and tested four different types of shear walls for evaluation, established three-dimensional finite element models with experimental data, explored the connection strength between shear wall components, and proposed a simplified model to predict the bearing capacity of the shear wall.

Seismic vulnerability assessment indices for buildings: Proposals, comparisons and methodologies at collapse limit states

Sebastiano Marasco et al.

Summary: This study presents a methodology for seismic vulnerability assessment of existing buildings, combining field investigations, experimental tests, and nonlinear structural analyses. It introduces different vulnerability index calculations and compares them with alternative approaches. The research suggests that while simplified methods may be practical for analyzing a large number of buildings, a more detailed vulnerability assessment method is needed.
