The serum glycolate concentration: its prognostic value and its correlation to surrogate markers in ethylene glycol exposures

Darren M. Roberts et al.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the prognostic value of glycolate concentration in patients with ethylene glycol exposure and to identify surrogate markers for glycolate concentration. The results showed that glycolate concentration can predict mortality in ethylene glycol poisoning, and the anion gap is a reasonable surrogate measurement for glycolate concentration.
