In SituDielectric Spectroscopy Monitoring of Silica NanoparticleSynthesis in Cationic Water-in-Oil Microemulsions

Rui Peng et al.

Summary: In-situ monitoring of microemulsion-based nanoparticle synthesis is crucial for understanding the effects of interfacial polarization and orientational polarization during the synthesis process. This study used dielectric spectroscopy to monitor the relaxation behavior of silica nanoparticles synthesized in a CTAB/n-hexanol/cyclohexane/ammonia microemulsion, and found significant changes in the lower-frequency relaxation with synthesis time.

Synergistic reinforcement of CPC/TX-100 mixed micellar microenvironment for diperiodatocuprate(III) (DPC) oxidation of 1-propanol and 1,3-propanediol

Budhadeb Chowdhury et al.

Summary: This study investigates the employment of two surfactants in the oxidation of 1-propanol and 1,3-propanediol by copper(III)-periodate (DPC) complex in aqueous micellar media. The results show a significant enhancement in the catalytic efficiency of the oxidation reactions when both surfactants are present in equimolar amounts. Additionally, the aggregation of the binary surfactants plays a crucial role in the analysis of the absolute kinetic results of the oxidation study.

Small-angle X-ray scattering as an effective tool to understand the structure and rigidity of the reverse micelles with the variation of surfactant

Sunaina et al.

Summary: This study utilized small-angle X-ray scattering technique to investigate the effect of surfactant structure on the shape, size, and structure of reverse micelles in water-in-oil microemulsions. Different surfactant types formed reverse micelles of different shapes, and appropriate models were selected to fit the SAXS data.

Formation of Gold Nanoparticles in Water-in-Oil Microemulsions: Experiment, Mechanism, and Simulation

Anil Rajapantulu et al.

Summary: Self-assembled water-in-oil microemulsions are suitable for synthesizing size-controlled nanoparticles. However, the mechanism of nanoparticle formation in microemulsions is not fully understood. In this study, gold nanoparticles were synthesized and it was found that the mean diameter of GNPs increased with the initial water drop diameter. The kinetic Monte Carlo simulation agreed well with the experimental results, providing a detailed understanding of the dynamics of nanoparticle size evolution.
