Water-Soluble Chiral Cyclic Peptoids and Their Sodium and Gadolinium Complexes: Study of Conformational and Relaxometric Properties

Assunta D'Amato et al.

Summary: This work demonstrates the influence of strategically positioned chiral (S)- and (R)-(1-carboxyethyl)glycine units on the conformational stability and metal binding properties of water-soluble macrocyclic peptoids. The results are based on nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, extensive computational studies, and X-ray diffraction analysis. The thermodynamic stabilities and relaxivities of hexameric cyclic peptoids in the presence of Gd3+ ion were investigated using 1H relaxometric studies.

Inverted Circularly Polarized Luminescence Behavior Induced by Helical Nanofibers through Chiral Co-Assembly from Achiral Liquid Crystal Polymers and Chiral Inducers

Yuxia Zhang et al.

Summary: Chiral supramolecular assembly can regulate the helical nanofibers to achieve circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) behavior of pyrenyl emitters in achiral liquid crystal polymers. Interestingly, the chiral co-assembly (R/S-M)(0.1)-(P3)(0.9) emitted an inverted blue-colored CPL signal during thermal annealing treatment, which was due to the flexible main chain of the LC polymer (LC-P3).

White-Light Emission and Circularly Polarized Luminescence from a Chiral Copper(I) Coordination Polymer through Symmetry-Breaking Crystallization

Mu-Xin Yu et al.

Summary: In this study, a pair of chiral Cu-I coordination polymers (1-M and 1-P) were successfully prepared by asymmetric assembly of achiral ligands and Cu2I2 clusters. These compounds exhibited dual emission bands and could be used as single-phase white-light phosphors, achieving high color rendering index and appropriate correlated color temperature. Additionally, circularly polarized luminescence signals were observed. This is the first realization of simultaneous intrinsic white-light emission and circularly polarized luminescence in coordination polymers.

Binaphthyl-Bridged Pyrenophanes: Intense Circularly Polarized Luminescence Based on a D2 Symmetry Strategy

Kazuto Takaishi et al.

Summary: A series of D-2-symmetric macrocycles composed of alternately linked pyrene and binaphthyl moieties have been synthesized, among which a pyrenophane with ether linkers at the 2,7-positions of pyrenes demonstrated intense circularly polarized luminescence (CPL). The CPL exhibited by this pyrenophane is the highest among excimers and is insensitive to temperature, solvent, or concentration. The CPL originated from a twisting pyrene excimer with left-handed twist produced by (R)-binaphthyl moieties, showing a strong relationship between the electric and magnetic transition dipole moments.

Improving the Overall Properties of Circularly Polarized Luminescent Materials Through Arene-Perfluoroarene Interactions

Haowen Zhang et al.

Summary: A supramolecular self-assembled system driven by arene-perfluoroarene (AP) interactions of chiral polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and octafluoronaphthalene (OFN) provides a solution to the trade-off in the field of circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) of pure organic materials, where the large luminescence dissymmetry factor usually suppresses luminescence efficiency. Chirality amplification in both excited and ground states, as well as enhanced luminescence efficiency compared with individual chiral PAHs, are achieved in the AP assemblies due to the energy-barrier effect of OFN, showing potential for developing highly efficient CPL-active materials.

Tag-Assisted Liquid-Phase Synthesis of Peptoids

Dongmin Shin et al.

Summary: The optimized reaction conditions for the tag-assisted liquid-phase synthesis of peptoids were reported, resulting in a peptoid heptamer with >90% crude purity. This liquid-phase peptoid synthesis offers an alternative method for producing large quantities of peptoid oligomers.
