Anxiety in adults with asthma during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic: a Canadian perspective

Summary: Asthma, the most common chronic disease in childhood, leads to various psychological and sociocultural detriments, affecting the quality of life of asthmatic children. Emotions, such as anxiety and depression, are closely associated with childhood asthma, as well as Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. Shyness and impulsivity are common personality traits among these children, while psychopathic behaviors, aggression, and psychosis are exceptionally linked. Impaired school performance and increased bullying are observed. Dysfunctional family relationships and lower socioeconomic status negatively impact the severity and management of asthma.
