Integrated tools for identifying optimal flow regimes and evaluating alternative minimum flows for recovering at-risk salmonids in a highly managed system

Summary: Water resource managers face difficult decisions in meeting human water needs while preserving or restoring riverine ecosystems. Decision sciences have developed methods to break down these complex decisions and use quantitative models to evaluate alternative strategies. By using integrated decision support models, optimal flow regimes were identified for different species, suggesting potential benefits for water resource management.
