Cell-free fetal DNA for genetic evaluation in Copenhagen Pregnancy Loss Study (COPL): a prospective cohort study

Tanja Schlaikjaer Hartwig et al.

Summary: This study validates the feasibility of using cell-free fetal DNA (cffDNA) from maternal blood for the detection of fetal aneuploidy in cases of pregnancy loss. The results show that this method has a high sensitivity and specificity in distinguishing between euploid and aneuploid pregnancy loss, providing valuable information for clinical management.

Increased prenatal detection of 22q11.2 deletion and 22q11.2 duplication after introduction of nationwide prenatal screening for trisomy 21, trisomy 13, and trisomy 18

Ellen Hollands Steffensen et al.

Summary: The introduction of a prenatal screening program in Denmark led to an increase in prenatal diagnosis of 22q11.2 deletion and duplication, as well as trisomies 21, 13, and 18. While a greater proportion of cases were detected earlier in pregnancy, there was no significant change in postnatal diagnosis timing.
