Recycling and reutilization of LiNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 cathode materials from spent lithium-ion battery

Summary: A facile process was proposed to recycle valuable metals from spent LIBs, regenerating fresh cathode material with excellent electrochemical performance. Increasing sulfite and ammonia concentration enhances the dissolution of valuable metals, except aluminum, while the dissolution of Mn is mainly affected by pH value and sulfite concentration.

A simple process to resynthesize the LiCoO2 and LiNi1/3Co1/3Mn1/3O2 compounds from the cathode material extracted from a batch of spent LCO batteries

Summary: A low-cost and straightforward resynthesis process based on the complete thermal decomposition of cathode materials extracted from discarded LiCoO2 batteries is described in this study. The residue and filtered solution after leaching were used as feedstock for resynthesis. The charge capacity of electrodes manufactured with the resynthesized compounds showed promising results in Li-metal oxide/LiClO4-EC:DMC/Li degrees electrochemical cells.

Recovery of spent LiCoO2 lithium-ion battery via environmentally friendly pyrolysis and hydrometallurgical leaching

Summary: A novel process combining pyrolysis and hydrometallurgical leaching was developed for full-component recovery of spent LiCoO2 battery. Organic matters were recovered in the form of pyrolytic oil and gas, while harmful fluorine element was absorbed by Ca(OH)2 solution. The results suggest that this process is inexpensive, efficient, and eco-friendly.
