A GIS-based multi-criteria decision analysis approach using AHP for rural settlement site selection and eco-village design in Erzincan, Turkey

Deniz Kilic et al.

Summary: Natural resource depletion, rapid population growth, and increasing urbanization have led to ecological problems that exceed the planet's capacity. Rural settlement plans aim to optimize natural resource use, and the suitability of land is determined through GIS and suitability analysis. Technological innovations are crucial for selecting rural settlement areas, considering technical, economic, and social factors. Using GIS, multi-criteria decision analysis, and the Analytical Hierarchy Process method, the most suitable rural settlement areas in Erzincan Province were identified as Merkez, Tercan, Kemaliye, and Kemah districts. Caglayan town in the Merkez district was found to be the most suitable region for an eco-village, and a cost calculation and 3D eco-village design were conducted.

An Integrated Fuzzy MCDM Hybrid Methodology to Analyze Agricultural Production

Babak Daneshvar Rouyendegh et al.

Summary: A hybrid model combining MCDM with AHP and fuzzy set is developed to provide decision support for choosing sustainable solutions in agriculture. The model incorporates fuzzy numbers to represent uncertainty and hesitancy, enabling a comprehensive evaluation of both quantitative and qualitative criteria. This study aims to improve agricultural productivity while considering environmental protection and consumer satisfaction. The proposed methodology uses B-FAHP and F-TOPSIS to determine weights and rank alternatives, respectively, and a real-world case study is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the model.
