Comparative study of the structural, mechanical, electronic, optical and thermodynamic properties of superconducting disilicide YT2Si2 (T=Co, Ni, Ru, Rh, Pd, Ir) by DFT simulation

Md Atikur Rahman et al.

Summary: A comparative theoretical investigation of the physical properties of superconducting disilicide materials YT2Si2 (T = Co, Ni, Ru, Rh, Pd, Ir) has been conducted using a DFT simulation-based ab-initio approach. The study confirmed a strong correlation between the synthesized and calculated structural parameters of all the superconductors. The elastic stiffness parameters indicated mechanical structural stability of all phases, while the phonon dispersion curve revealed the dynamical stability of YT2Si2 compounds with T = Co, Ni, Ru, and Ir, but instability of those with T = Rh and Pd. The study also examined the elastic moduli and polycrystalline features, as well as the metallic nature and optoelectronic properties of the materials.

First-principles calculations to investigate structural, elastic, electronic, optical and thermal properties of La-based ternary intermetallic superconductors LaM2Si2 (M1/4Co, Cu, Rh, Pd, Ag, Ir, Pt, Au)

Md. Atikur Rahman et al.

Summary: This study examines the different physical properties of ternary intermetallic La-based superconducting materials LaM2Si2 (M 1/4 Co, Cu, Rh, Pd, Ag, Ir, Pt, Au) through self-consistent ab initio calculations based on the DFT method. The study aims to understand various crucial characteristics of these compounds, including crystal phase, stability, bulk features, band configuration, dielectric, conductivity, and thermal properties. The results show good agreement in the structural analysis between the optimized and synthesized lattice parameters, and reveal the dynamically stable nature of LaCo2Si2, LaCu2Si2, LaRh2Si2, LaPd2Si2, and LaIr2Si2 compounds. The electrical properties of these superconducting materials are also investigated, indicating metallic behavior and high absorption and optical conductivity in the ultraviolet energy region.
