Occupational health and safety in initial vocational training: Reflection on the issues of prescription and integration in teaching and learning activities

Summary: Vocational training plays an important role for organizations and workers. Integrating occupational safety and health (OSH) into training is necessary as activities involve complex OSH issues. Training that focuses solely on basic knowledge and compliance with rules may limit the transfer of learning. Behavioral modeling can control risk attitudes, but other forms of learning are also needed. This article critically reviews OSH education issues for students and teachers in vocational training and presents various initiatives and approaches to integrate OSH.
