Position sensitive plastic scintillator for beta particle detection

H. Joukainen et al.

Summary: This article introduces a new segmented plastic scintillator detector Tuike for recoil-beta tagging experiments. The performance of Tuike and an energy calibration method are tested using fusion-evaporation reaction. The results show that Tuike can efficiently tag high-energy beta particles and improve the sensitivity to identify weak fusion-evaporation channels associated with beta decays, making it suitable for nuclear structure studies.

Mirror energy differences above the 0f7/2 shell: First γ-ray spectroscopy of the Tz =-2 nucleus 56Zn

A. Fernandez et al.

Summary: In an experiment conducted at the Radioactive Isotope Beam Factory at RIKEN, excited states in Zn-56 were populated by one-neutron removal from a Zn-57 beam impinging on a Be target. Three gamma rays were observed and tentatively assigned to a specific yrast sequence. Excitation-energy differences between levels in Zn-56 and its isobaric analogue states in Fe-56 were compared using large-scale shell-model calculations.

β decay of the very neutron-deficient 60Ge and 62Ge nuclei

S. E. A. Orrigo et al.

Summary: In this study, the beta decay of the proton-rich Ge isotopes, Ge-60 and Ge-62, was investigated, revealing detailed information on their half-lives, beta-delayed proton and gamma emissions, branching ratios, decay schemes, and transition strengths. New data on the energy levels of Ga-60 and the excited state in the Zn-59 daughter nucleus were obtained, along with insights into the mass excesses of the nuclei under study. The results also include the determination of the branching ratios and feeding probabilities for the decay processes studied.
