The breast cancer-related lymphedema multidisciplinary approach: Algorithm for conservative and multimodal surgical treatment

Pedro Ciudad et al.

Summary: This study presents the breast cancer-related lymphedema multidisciplinary approach (B-LYMA) to systematically treat BCRL. The B-LYMA protocol directs the treatment of BCRL according to the lymphatic system's condition. Preoperative and postoperative complex decongestive therapy (CDT) is mandatory to improve the outcomes.

Effect of Conservative Rehabilitation Interventions on Health-Related Quality of Life in Women with Upper Limb Lymphedema Secondary to Breast Cancer: A Systematic Review

Maria Nieves Munoz-Alcaraz et al.

Summary: Breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL) of the upper limb is a common condition that significantly affects patients' quality of life. Various treatments have been explored, but their effectiveness and perspectives remain controversial. This article reviews the evidence and suggests that a complex decongestive technique without manual lymphatic drainage is the most recommended intervention for improving patients' health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Further research is needed to guide therapeutic decisions in women with upper limb BCRL.

Adherence to Compression Garment Wear and Associated Factors Among Patients with Breast Cancer-Related Lymphedema: A Pilot Study from a Turkish Tertiary Center

Nihan Erdinc Gunduz et al.

Summary: Adherence to compression garments in the maintenance phase of BCRL treatment was found to be suboptimal despite standard information provided to patients. Patients' economic status is a key factor influencing the choice of compression garments and subsequent adherence. Training programs tailored to individual needs may be useful in improving adherence to compression garment wear.
