A setup for high-energy y-ray spectroscopy with the ELI-NP large-volume LaBr3:Ce and CeBr3 detectors at the 9 MV Tandem accelerator at IFIN-HH

S. Aogaki et al.

Summary: The first experimental campaign was conducted using large-volume LaBr3:Ce and CeBr3 detectors from the Extreme Light Infrastructure-Nuclear physics (ELI-NP) and detectors and infrastructure from the ROSPHERE array at the 9 MV Tandem facility at IFIN-HH. The detectors and digital data acquisition system showed good energy resolution at high energies and excellent time resolution. Additionally, integration of the detector system and digital electronics with ancillary detectors was presented.

Experimental study of excited states of 62Ni via one-neutron (d, p) transfer up to the neutron-separation threshold and characteristics of the pygmy dipole resonance states

M. Spieker et al.

Summary: The degree of collectivity of the pygmy dipole resonance (PDR) is still a topic of debate. Recent observations suggest that the PDR starts beyond N = 28 and is originated from a few-nucleon effect. Furthermore, studies have found a clear correlation between the E1 strength of the PDR, the position of the Fermi level, and the occupation of orbits with low orbital angular momenta.

Lifetime measurements in low yrast states and spectroscopic peculiarities in 182Os

A. Harter et al.

Summary: In this study, the lifetimes of the low-lying yrast states 2+, 4+, and 6+ of the unstable nucleus 182Os were measured using digital fast-timing techniques. The lifetimes of the 4+ and 6+ states were determined for the first time. The discrepancy between two inconsistent literature values was evaluated by taking into account the remeasured value for the lifetime of the 2+1 state.

Thermal neutron activation of a CeBr3 gamma-ray sensor

Patrick N. Peplowski et al.

Summary: We observed significant activation of a CeBr3 gamma-ray sensor when exposed to high thermal neutron flux, resulting in a dramatic increase in the intrinsic count rates. The activated detector showed evidence of radioactive decay with different energies and half lives, indicating the presence of multiple radioisotopes. We propose the inclusion of a thermal neutron shield surrounding the sensor to adapt to high thermal neutron environments.

54Fe(d, p) 55Fe and the evolution of single neutron energies in the N=29 isotones

L. A. Riley et al.

Summary: A measurement of the 54Fe(d, p) 55Fe reaction was performed to determine single-neutron energies for different orbits. New states were observed and angular momentum transfer assignments were made. The results showed discrepancies with previous measurements, indicating differences in spin-orbit splitting and single-neutron energy predictions.

Gamma-ray spectroscopy with a CeBr3 scintillator under intense γ-ray fields for nuclear decommissioning

Masaaki Kaburagi et al.

Summary: An increasing number of nuclear facilities worldwide have been decommissioned due to the 2011 Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station accident, resulting in a large amount of radioactive wastes and spent nuclear fuels that require proper management and retrieval. A small cubic CeBr3 spectrometer was manufactured for gamma-ray spectroscopy under intense fields, successfully meeting the requirements to solve the prominent gamma-ray spectral lines.

SABRE: The Silicon Array for Branching Ratio Experiments

E. C. Good et al.

Summary: The Silicon Array for Branching Ratio Experiments (SABRE) has been developed to study reactions important to nuclear structure and astrophysics, integrated into the experimental setup at Florida State University to detect charged-particle decays in coincidence with reaction products. Its construction, electronics processing, and performance validation through commissioning data have been discussed.

50Ti(d, p) 51Ti: Single-neutron energies in the N=29 isotones, and the N=32 subshell closure

L. A. Riley et al.

Summary: The measurement of the Ti-50(d, p) Ti-51 reaction at 16 MeV confirmed the presence of the N = 32 subshell gap in Ti, providing single neutron energy values for different orbitals. The results were compared to a covariant density functional theory calculation and showed consistency with values from previous measurements in other elements.
