SLA-3d printing and compressive strength of PEGDA/nHAP biomaterials

Qinghua Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, PEGDA/nHAP biomaterials with optimal compressive strength were prepared by stereolithography (SLA), using a mechanically mixed paste of PEGDA, photoinitiator I2959, and bioceramic nHAP. The content of the photoinitiator was determined based on the cytotoxicity of cured samples. The solid content of the paste and processing parameters were optimized using a uniform design experiment method. The resulting PEGDA/nHAP printed specimens exhibited a minimum cured width of 65 pm and a minimum cured depth of 150 pm. The compressive strength reached a maximum of 61.0 +/- 3.9 MPa, which was significantly higher than pure PEGDA.
