A multicenter retrospective comparison of trauma in toy breeds versus giant breeds: A Veterinary Committee on Trauma registry study

Amy L. Bell et al.

Summary: The study found differences in severity of injury, mechanisms of injury, and survival rates between toy and giant breed dogs, with giant breeds being more prone to penetrating injuries and toy breeds more susceptible to injuries from falling or motor accidents. Severely injured dogs were less likely to survive, and surgical intervention was associated with higher survival rates.
