Electromagnetic Scattering from Fractional Brownian Motion Surfaces via the Small Slope Approximation

Antonio Iodice et al.

Summary: This paper applies the small slope approximation (SSA-1) method to evaluate the scattering of fractional Brownian motion (fBm) surfaces, obtaining an analytical formulation of their normalized radar cross section (NRCS). The results show that the SSA-1 expression reduces to the Kirchhoff approximation (KA) and small perturbation method (SPM) expressions at near-specular and far-from-specular scattering directions, respectively. Finally, the proposed method's results are compared to experimental data available in the literature.

Bistatic Scattering From Anisotropic Rough Surfaces via a Closed-Form Two-Scale Model

Gerardo Di Martino et al.

Summary: Bistatic radars, with a focus on the relevance of circularly polarized signals in opportunistic GNSS reflectometry applications, have gained increasing interest in recent years. Research on bistatic electromagnetic scattering models plays a crucial role in the analysis, simulation, and performance prediction of these systems, including the consideration of both linear and circular polarization bases in bistatic radar signals.
