The Roles of Gibberellins in Regulating Leaf Development

Faujiah Nurhasanah Ritonga et al.

Summary: Plant growth and development are influenced by various factors, including phytohormones, with gibberellins (GAs) playing a crucial role. The synthesis of GAs involves key genes such as GA20oxs, GA3oxs, and GA2oxs, and their levels and synthesis are affected by factors such as light, carbon availability, stresses, phytohormone crosstalk, and transcription factors. GAs induce the degradation of DELLA proteins during biosynthesis, which in turn controls important developmental processes through interactions with other proteins. The levels of bioactive GAs are inversely related to DELLA proteins, and their absence activates GA responses.

Plant buffering against the high-light stress-induced accumulation of CsGA2ox8 transcripts via alternative splicing to finely tune gibberellin levels and maintain hypocotyl elongation

Bin Liu et al.

Summary: In response to environmental stresses, plants induce alternative splicing to generate multiple transcripts, allowing for fine-tuning of gibberellin levels. The study identified a novel transcript of the gibberellin-deactivating enzyme CsGA2ox8 and demonstrated that different isoforms play distinct roles in deactivating bioactive GAs. Expression analysis showed that under different light intensities, the transcripts of CsGA2ox8 were upregulated at varying rates, suggesting a regulatory mechanism through alternative splicing in plants.
