Multiple-instance learning for EEG based OSA event detection

Liu Cheng et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an automatic OSA detection framework based on EEG signals. By extracting features from sub-frames and mining the interactive relationship between different instances, the framework can effectively distinguish OSA event fragments. It also introduces instance-level and bag-level tasks for OSA event detection, and redefines evaluation criteria to comprehensively evaluate the model's performance.

Gaussian Distribution Based Oversampling for Imbalanced Data Classification

Yuxi Xie et al.

Summary: In this study, a new data resampling technique called Gaussian Distribution based Oversampling (GDO) is proposed to handle imbalanced data for classification. Experimental results show that GDO outperforms other compared methods in terms of AUC, G-mean, and memory usage, with an increase in running time. The effectiveness of GDO is further validated in two real imbalanced data classification problems.

A dual-model deep learning method for sleep apnea detection based on representation learning and temporal dependence

Hengji Qin et al.

Summary: A dual-model deep learning method for sleep apnea detection based on ECG data was proposed in this study, showing good classification performance. The ADASYN method alleviated the imbalance issue in classification results, the 1DCNN-RLM extracted discriminative features, and the BiGRU-TDM introduced time dependence, further improving the classification performance.

Bispectral analysis of overnight airflow to improve the pediatric sleep apnea diagnosis

Veronica Barroso-Garcia et al.

Summary: Pediatric Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is diagnosed through overnight polysomnography (PSG), which is complex and expensive. This study proposes bispectral analysis of overnight airflow (AF) signal as a potential simpler alternative to PSG for diagnosing pediatric OSA. The bispectral analysis complements the traditional ODI3 measurement and can help simplify the diagnosis process for children with moderate-to-severe OSA.

AIOSA: An approach to the automatic identification of obstructive sleep apnea events based on deep learning

Andrea Bernardini et al.

Summary: Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (OSAS) is the most common sleep-related breathing disorder and is particularly important in stroke patients. Polysomnography (PSG) is the gold standard for diagnosing OSAS, but it can be challenging to perform in environments like stroke units. Therefore, a simple and automated recognition system based on vital signs to identify OSAS cases in acute stroke patients is highly desirable.
