Dietary hydroxyproline promotes collagen deposition in swim bladder through regulating biosynthesis of amino acid: In-vitro and in-vivo investigations in Nibea coibor

Summary: Collagen, as a functional protein, has a high market demand and is widely used in the food, cosmetic, and biomedicine industries. Swim bladder is considered an ideal source for collagen production due to its high collagen content and low risk of infectious pathogens. This study investigated the molecular mechanism of how dietary hydroxyproline (Hyp) promotes collagen deposition in the swim bladder of Nibea coibor. The results showed that Hyp up-regulated collagen synthesis-related genes and affected the amino acid profile in swim bladder cells. These findings provide new insights into the regulatory mechanism of Hyp on collagen deposition and can contribute to the development of nutritional strategies for collagen production from aquatic species.

In vivo experiments on rats demonstrated that the combination of Shea butter and Tanta LEM extract had the best wound contraction and healing activity.
