Capacity building of health care professionals to perform interprofessional management of non-communicable diseases in primary care - experiences from Ukraine

Tiina Laatikainen et al.

Summary: The study showed that an interprofessional capacity building intervention in Ukraine can improve primary health care professionals' capacity in detecting and reducing non-communicable disease risks. There were significant improvements in medication prescription rates in intervention areas, but similar improvements were also seen in control clinics. However, improvements in blood pressure, blood glucose, and cholesterol control were not observed within the 1.5 to 2 years follow-up period.
