NIR-II-enhanced single-atom-nanozyme for sustainable accelerating bacteria-infected wound healing

Xueliang Liu et al.

Summary: We developed a Co single-atom catalyst (Co-SAC) with atomically dispersed Co atoms, which exhibited intrinsic oxidase-like activity for sustainable antibacterial activity and wound healing. The Co-SAC nanozyme presented enhanced oxidase-like activity and antibacterial efficiency via good photothermal effect under near-infrared II laser light. It could eliminate pathogenic bacteria and disrupt the formation of biofilm without additional H2O2, promoting accelerated wound healing in an in vivo wound model infected by S. aureus.

Simulated Enzyme Activity and Efficient Antibacterial Activity of Copper-Doped Single-Atom Nanozymes

Junrun Zhu et al.

Summary: In this study, a Cu single-atom nanozyme (Cu-N-C) with good biocompatibility was synthesized, which mimics the structure and properties of enzymes and destroys bacterial structures by generating reactive oxygen species. The antibacterial effect of Cu-N-C was significantly better than vancomycin, a commonly used drug for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, and Cu-N-C also outperformed cephalexin and gentamicin in terms of resistance development. Cu-N-C's biocompatibility was verified using several methods, and it showed great potential as an efficient metal antimicrobial agent.

Engineering mesoporous semiconducting metal oxides from metal-organic frameworks for gas sensing

Gen Wang et al.

Summary: Chemiresistive gas sensors based on semiconducting metal oxides (SMOs) are widely used in various fields, but developing sensors with high selectivity and low working temperature remains a challenge. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) derived SMOs have shown promise due to their mesoporous structure and unique morphology. This review systematically summarizes recent developments in this area and discusses strategies for enhancing sensing performance, such as constructing novel nanostructures and combining with highly-conductive materials.
