Bone Sialoprotein Is Critical for Alveolar Bone Healing in Mice

M. B. Chavez et al.

Summary: Bone sialoprotein (BSP) is a critical factor for alveolar bone healing, and its absence disrupts multiple major pathways involved in appropriate healing.

Loss of β-catenin causes cementum hypoplasia by hampering cementogenic differentiation of Axin2-expressing cells

Rui Ma et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of beta-catenin deletion in Axin2(+) cells on cementogenesis. The results showed that loss of beta-catenin in Axin2(+) cells led to a sharp reduction in cementum formation and inhibited the differentiation of Axin2(+) cells into cementoblasts positive for osteopontin.

The role of integrin family in bone metabolism and tumor bone metastasis

Liwei Mao et al.

Summary: Integrins play a crucial role in cell-extracellular matrix adhesion and cytokine receptor signal transduction, regulating bone metabolism. Recent studies have uncovered the involvement of integrins in bone metabolism pathways and their interaction with novel cytokines. Integrins act as transducers, mediating the effects of mechanical stress, fluid shear stress, microgravity, hypergravity, and other physical factors on bone-related cells. They also play a role in mediating bone metastasis of various cancers. Targeted therapy involving integrins shows promising potential for bone metabolic diseases. This review provides insights into the latest research on integrins in bone metabolism and metastasis and offers a vision for treatment strategies.

Knockout of bone sialoprotein in cementoblasts cell lines affects specific gene expression in unstimulated and mechanically stimulated conditions

Charlotte E. Roth et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of bone sialoprotein (BSP) on cementoblasts and its role in regulating the organization of cementum. The findings suggest that BSP markers in cementoblasts play an important role in the regulation of periodontal tissues and cellular cementum remodeling. This provides a basis for further investigations into the molecular biology interactions of BSP in cementoblasts and understanding of periodontal diseases and cementum remodeling.
