Water as the Only Solvent for CsPbCl3 and NIR-Emitting CsPbCl3:Yb3+ Films by Antisolvent-Enhanced Crystallization in Aerosol-Assisted Chemical Vapor Deposition

Luis Becerril et al.

Summary: In this work, a green synthesis approach using water as the only solvent to deposit CsPbCl3 and CsPbCl3:Yb3+ films by aerosol assisted chemical vapor deposition technique under ambient atmospheric conditions, is proposed. The as-deposited films show a photoluminescent excitonic emission peak around 418 nm and an additional peak at 984 nm emission band associated with the Yb3+ infrared 2F(5/2) to 2F(7/2) transitions for doped materials. Near infra-red photoluminescence emission is notably improved upon antisolvent assistance up to a threefold increase for ethanol, reaching a photoluminescence quantum yield of 33.94% at low Yb3+ concentration.

Resveratrol-silica aerogel nanodrug complex system enhances the treatment of sports osteoarthritis by activating SIRT-1

Lili Qin et al.

Summary: In this study, a silica aerogel was prepared to carry resveratrol as a nanodrug complex system, which showed high drug-loading rate and sustained release effect. The complex system demonstrated good biocompatibility and enhanced anti-inflammatory actions in human chondrocytes in vitro. In a rat model of exercise-induced osteoarthritis, the complex system reduced inflammatory factors and increased the expression of type II collagen. Resveratrol was found to activate SIRT-1 and alleviate cartilage degradation through inhibiting the NF-kappa B-mediated inflammatory pathway. These findings suggest that the complex system could provide a novel noninvasive approach for targeted osteoarthritis therapy with potential for oral drug delivery.

First-principles study on the role of anion in the physical properties of lead-free halide double perovskites

N. Rajeev Kumar et al.

Summary: Lead-free halide double perovskite (HDP) materials have attracted attention for perovskite solar cells due to their non-toxicity, structural stability, and improved optical properties. This study investigates the effect of halide ion substitution in the Cs2AgSbX6 compound using density functional theory calculations. The results demonstrate that halide ions play a crucial role in modifying the physical properties of Cs2AgSbX6, particularly in light absorption. Cs2AgSbX6 (X = Cl, Br, I) exhibits enhanced light absorbance and less reflectivity in the solar spectrum, indicating potential for enhancing solar cell efficiency.

A Universal Cosolvent Evaporation Strategy Enables Direct Printing of Perovskite Single Crystals for Optoelectronic Device Applications

Daniel Corzo et al.

Summary: This article presents a universal cosolvent evaporation strategy for the fabrication of metal halide perovskite single crystals and arrays at room temperature. The strategy controls the drying process of droplets to produce consistent single crystals of various types of perovskites. It works with commonly used precursors and solvents, enabling large-scale production of single crystal arrays. The approach also demonstrates the fabrication of perovskite photodetector devices on chips.

Surface ligand engineering of CsPbBr3 perovskite nanowires for high-performance photodetectors

Mengmeng Yu et al.

Summary: Surface ligand engineering plays a crucial role in preparing high-performance one-dimensional CsPbBr3 nanowires for photodetectors. In this study, short-chain ligands were introduced to replace long-chain ligands, resulting in the successful preparation of various CsPbBr3 nanowires. These nanowires exhibit superior performance compared to those with long-chain ligands.

Integration of Highly Luminescent Lead Halide Perovskite Nanocrystals on Transparent Lead Halide Nanowire Waveguides through Morphological Transformation and Spontaneous Growth in Water

Tao Chen et al.

Summary: The growth of highly luminescent CsPbBr3 quantum dots on CsPb2Br5 nanowires has great potential for applications in nanophotonics, optical sensing, and quantum communications. CsPbBr3-gamma X-gamma (X = Cl, I) nanocrystals on CsPb2Br5-gamma X-gamma nanowires are synthesized by immersing CsPbBr3 powder into pure water, providing tunable light sources. The transformation from CsPbBr3 powder to CsPb2Br5 microplatelets and then to nanowires is controlled by electrolytic dissociation and supersaturation of CsPb2Br5. CsPbBr3 nanocrystals are spontaneously formed on CsPb2Br5 nanowires when collected from the aqueous solution.

Highly Efficient and Stable CsPbTh3 (Th = I, Br, Cl) Perovskite Solar Cells by Combinational Passivation Strategy

Kang Wang et al.

Summary: The all-inorganic perovskite based on triple halide-mixed CsPb(I2.85Br0.149Cl0.001) framework has achieved high black phase stability and photovoltaic efficiency. However, there are still issues such as ion migration, trap-induced nonradiative recombination, and black phase instability. A passivation strategy has been developed to suppress ion migration and reduce traps, resulting in improved power conversion efficiency.

Long carrier diffusion length in two-dimensional lead halide perovskite single crystals

Shreetu Shrestha et al.

Summary: In this work, the authors investigated the carrier diffusion length in two-dimensional Ruddlesden-Popper perovskite single crystals using scanning photocurrent microscopy. They observed a long in-plane carrier diffusion length and attributed it to the dominating dissociated free carrier transport. The results suggest that semiconducting devices fabricated from RP perovskite single crystals can be as efficient as their 3D counterparts.

Epitaxial Growth of Lead-Free 2D Cs3Cu2I5 Perovskites for High-Performance UV Photodetectors

Jianan Lv et al.

Summary: The all-inorganic lead-free Cu-based halide perovskites have attracted extensive interest recently due to their impressive photophysical characteristics. In this study, 2D all-inorganic perovskite Cs3Cu2I5 single crystals were successfully grown on mica substrates, and UV photodetectors based on individual Cs3Cu2I5 nanosheets were fabricated, showing high responsivity and fast response speed, outperforming other 2D metal halide perovskite UV sensors. This work sheds light on the fabrication of green optoelectronic devices based on lead-free 2D perovskites, important for the sustainable development of photoelectric technology.

Summary: This study resolves controversies on the physical properties of CsPb2Br5, showing that optical absorption and photoluminescence are mainly caused by CsPbBr3 microcrystallites settled on the CsPb2Br5 plates. High-pressure experiments confirm the stability of the layered tetragonal structure of CsPb2Br5 and reveal a continuous red shift and moderate band gap narrowing under pressure.
