Influence of supercritical fluid parameters on the polyimide aerogels in a high-efficiency supercritical drying process

Summary: A semi-continuous supercritical drying process was developed to improve the efficiency of producing polyimide aerogels. The influence of supercritical fluid parameters on the aerogel properties was investigated based on the vapor-liquid equilibrium diagram. The results showed that efficient supercritical drying was crucial for the comprehensive properties of the aerogel, and subcritical drying conditions below the critical mixture pressure also had special interest.

Synthesis of a clustered carbon aerogel interconnected by carbon balls from the biomass of taros for construction of a multi-functional electrochemical sensor

Summary: In this study, a clustered carbon aerogel interconnected by carbon balls was prepared as an electrode material for constructing a multi-functional electrochemical sensor. The CCAI-CB modified glassy carbon electrode showed lower detection limits and higher sensitivities for the determination of ascorbic acid and hydrogen peroxide compared to other modified electrodes. The CCAI-CB also exhibited high electrochemical activity for the electrocatalysis of other biomolecules, indicating its potential as a promising electrode material for multi-functional electrochemical sensors.

Influence of pore-size distributions and pore-wall mechanics on the mechanical behavior of cellular solids like aerogels

Summary: In this paper, a micromechanical model is proposed to study the effect of artificial normal pore-size distributions on the mechanical properties of nanoporous cellular materials like aerogels. It is shown that the location and broadness of the mean pore size strongly influence the macroscopic behavior. Additionally, different damage criteria within the model can capture the elastic, inelastic, and brittle nature of the material, serving as a tool for developing cellular solids with desired mechanical properties through reverse engineering.
