New insight into poor flotation recovery of fine molybdenite: An overlooked phase transition from 2H to 1T MoS2

Dashi Lei et al.

Summary: During the milling process, the phase change of fine molybdenite from stable 2H to active 1T phase leads to a significant decrease in recovery rate, which is a crucial factor affecting the flotation of fine molybdenite. The 1T phase provides more active adsorption sites and exhibits strong wettability on its basal plane, while the 2H phase shows poor flotation in an oil-water mixed system.

Reaction pathways control of long-chain alkanes hydroisomerization and hydrocracking via tailoring the metal-acid sites intimacy

Wenli Zhao et al.

Summary: Designing a bifunctional catalyst with high metal-acid intimacy is crucial for efficient hydroisomerization of long-chain alkanes. In this study, a bifunctional catalyst composed of ZSM-48 zeolite and alumina binder with platinum (Pt) metal deposition was fabricated. The catalytic activity was promoted by high Bronsted acid density and suitable metal-acid intimacy. By tailoring the metal-acid sites intimacy, the selectivity, hydroisomerization mechanism, and hydrocracking mechanism were significantly altered. The catalyst with nanoscale intimacy of metal-acid sites (Pt/A-48) showed the highest catalytic activity and isomer selectivity. This work provides a promising approach to fabricate highly efficient and shape-selective bifunctional catalysts for selective hydroisomerization of long-chain alkanes. A reaction network was also proposed for catalysts with different metal-acid intimacy.

Research progress of 1T-MoS2 in electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution

Jun Tang et al.

Summary: Electrochemical water electrolysis for hydrogen production is an effective solution to the world's energy and environmental problems. Transition metal dichalcogenides, particularly molybdenum disulfide (MoS2), have shown great potential as catalysts for hydrogen production. However, the semiconductor phase (2H) of MoS2 is more stable but less conductive than the metallic phase (1T). This review discusses the phase transition mechanism from 2H-MoS2 to 1T-MoS2 and explores methods to enhance the catalytic performance of 1T-MoS2. The findings provide valuable insights for the synthesis of 1T-MoS2 electrocatalysts with improved activity.
