Role of Handmade Models in Teaching Early Stages of Human Embryology: A Quasi-experimental Study from South Kerala, India

Olwetu Antonia Sindesi et al.

Summary: Cabbage and Swiss chard are important vegetables affected by poor soil fertility and shortages of irrigation water. This study investigated the effect of zeolite on the yield and water and nutrient retention ability of these vegetables. The results showed that zeolite application improved yield, decreased irrigation requirements, and ameliorated soil acidity. Furthermore, zeolite was found to have potential in alleviating pH of acidic soils and saving water and nutrients in sandy soils, which are major challenges for crop production.

Superabsorbent Polymer Hydrogels for Sustainable Agriculture: A Review

Yusuff Oladosu et al.

Summary: Water management is becoming a pressing issue in semi-arid and arid regions globally, with agriculture consuming a significant amount of freshwater. Hydrogels can help plants retain moisture and nutrients in drying soil, improving water efficiency, reducing irrigation costs, and providing necessary nutrients. Research on hydrogels as a safe delivery mechanism in agriculture is increasing, emphasizing their critical role in balanced protection for seeds, plants, and soil to conserve ecosystems.

Zeolites Enhance Soil Health, Crop Productivity and Environmental Safety

Mousumi Mondal et al.

Summary: Zeolites, as natural minerals, can improve soil properties, alleviate heavy metal toxicity, and reduce nutrient leaching when used as soil ameliorants. They also have selectivity for major essential nutrients, facilitating optimal nutrient release during crop growth and improving fertilizer and water use efficiency.

Biological effects of biochar and zeolite used for remediation of soil contaminated with toxic heavy metals

Tomasz Glab et al.

Summary: The results of the study showed that the treatments with zeolite alone or mixed with biochar had positive effects on grass biomass, while biochar did not affect most root morphometric parameters. The application of zeolite significantly affected root biomass and root morphology parameters.

Application of Zeolites in Agriculture and Other Potential Uses: A Review

Eleonora Cataldo et al.

Summary: Excessive use of nitrogen fertilizer and inappropriate fertilization designs have negative impacts on agricultural ecosystems, exacerbated by climate change-induced production declines and water shortages. Natural zeolites show promise as soil conditioners to improve soil properties, reduce nutrient loss, and enhance water-use efficiency in drylands.
