Hydroxyethyl methyl cellulose controls the diffusion behavior of pico-liter scale ink droplets on silk to improve inkjet printing performance

Keqin Liu et al.

Summary: A simple and effective coating method was proposed to improve printing quality and material utilization rate. The flow behavior of ink droplets on silk fabric surfaces treated with different chemicals was observed and measured. The results showed that Hydroxyethyl methyl cellulose (HEMC) formed the densest and smoothest film on silk fabrics, resulting in the most hydrophobic surface. Furthermore, HEMC showed a comparative advantage over Hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) in improving color effect and increasing dye utilization rate.

Fabrication of a wearable directional moisture-transfer cotton by clean technology of wet plasma, without fluoride consumption

Yaru Zhao et al.

Summary: This study developed a cleaner wearable cotton fabric with one-way water transfer and resistance to external liquid contamination. Wet plasma combined with fluorine-free hydrophobic agent was used in the preparation process, leading to improved waterproofness and reduced consumption of water-repellent agents. Tests on color fastness, breathability, and mechanical properties confirmed the effectiveness of this novel modification approach.
