Methionine can subside hair follicle development prejudice of heat-stressed rex rabbits

Shu Li et al.

Summary: The addition of methionine has been found to increase hair follicle density in rabbits under heat stress, possibly through TGF beta-BMP/Shh-Noggin, Wnt10b/beta-catenin, EGF, and HGF signaling pathways. However, high concentrations of methionine may diminish its effectiveness.

Effect of ambient temperature on the productive and carcass traits o growing rabbits divergently selected for body fat content

Z. Matics et al.

Summary: The study found that different ambient temperatures have varying effects on rabbits selected for different total body fat contents, with higher temperatures negatively impacting growth performance and carcass traits. Temperature and genetic line interaction plays an important role in determining productive and carcass traits in rabbits.

DNA methylation and histone acetylation are involved in Wnt10b expression during the secondary hair follicle cycle in Angora rabbits

Liya Bai et al.

Summary: Our study investigated the expression pattern, methylation, and histone H3 acetylation status of Wnt10b during the SHF cycle in Angora rabbits. We found that Wnt10b plays a critical role in cyclic transition of SHFs, with methylation of CpG5 site negatively correlated with Wnt10b expression, and histone H3 acetylation likely involved in upregulating Wnt10b transcription in SHFs. Additionally, potential binding to transcription factors ZF57 and HDBP was predicted within the CpG5 site.

Transcriptome Response of Liver and Muscle in Heat-Stressed Laying Hens

Yan Wang et al.

Summary: Exposure to high ambient temperature has varying effects on gene expression in pectoralis major muscle and liver of laying hens, with observed metabolic changes over time in control animals. Shared differentially expressed genes in liver suggest a core set responsible for metabolic homeostasis regardless of stressors, providing insights into the layer's response to stressors and potential targets for genetic selection.

Emily M. Leishman et al.

Summary: Temperature stress has significant effects on poultry meat quality, with hot and cold conditions leading to different meat quality defects. The treatment temperature and duration play a significant role in determining meat quality parameters. Overall, the effects of ambient temperature stress on poultry meat quality are generally small.
