Design and Analysis of a Novel Reconfigurable Ankle Rehabilitation Exoskeleton Capable of Matching the Mobile Biological Joint Center in Real-Time

Tun Wang et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel reconfigurable exoskeleton for ankle rehabilitation that can perform both static and dynamic exercises. The design is based on a reduced representation that treats the ankle-foot complex as a movable spherical joint to replicate the physical scenario. The analysis indicates that the exoskeleton can match its rotation center with that of the ankle complex in both rehabilitation modes, regardless of the ankle's movement.

Rehabilitation robot following motion control algorithm based on human behavior intention

Ming da Miao et al.

Summary: In response to the problem of low intelligence of mobile lower limb motor rehabilitation aids, this paper proposes an intelligent control scheme based on human movement behavior. By designing a multi-sensor data acquisition system and establishing a mathematical model of movement behavior, the rehabilitation robot can follow the patient's movement. The adaptive radial basis function neural network sliding mode controller is designed to improve the control effect and adaptability of the robot.

Development and Evaluation of a Hip Exoskeleton for Lateral Resistance Walk Exercise

Wujing Cao et al.

Summary: In this article, a novel hip exoskeleton was proposed to strengthen hip adductors during lateral walking by applying active resistance torque. A dynamic model of the transmission system coupling the exoskeleton and human body was established and a fuzzy tuning PID control strategy was used to control the resistance torque. Experimental results showed that the proposed hip exoskeleton significantly improved muscle activities of the hip adductors compared to traditional methods. The findings suggest that the hip exoskeleton has the potential to enhance lateral resistance walk exercise and strengthen hip abductors.

Bionic Design of a Novel Portable Hand-Elbow Coordinate Exoskeleton for Activities of Daily Living

Qingyun Meng et al.

Summary: This paper presents the mechanical design and test of a portable hand-elbow combination linkage upper limb rehabilitation robot, which can replicate the complete grasping action. The bionic mechanism for the joints based on human upper limb and hand characteristics is designed, and SolidWorks motion module is used for simulation and analysis. Measurement and grasping experiments confirm the robot's smooth movement and ability to assist with daily tasks. The design satisfies rehabilitation training requirements for the hand and upper limb.

Autonomous motion and control of lower limb exoskeleton rehabilitation robot

Xueshan Gao et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an adaptive particle swarm optimization admittance control algorithm (APSOAC) to overcome the problem of particle swarm falling into local optimal points. The proposed algorithm adjusts the stiffness and damping parameters of the admittance control online and adaptively plans the patient's desired gait profile. In addition, a dual RBF neural network adaptive sliding mode controller (DRNNASMC) is proposed to track the gait profile, compensate for frictional forces and external perturbations, and perform stability analysis based on the Lyapunov theory.

Design and Analysis of a Supine Ankle Rehabilitation Robot for Early Stroke Recovery

Qingyun Meng et al.

Summary: A supine ankle rehabilitation robot (S-ARR) specifically designed for early bedridden rehabilitation of stroke patients is introduced. It is movable, adaptable to different heights, and features a variable workspace with mechanical limiters at the rotating joints. A kinematic model has been constructed, and the simulation and experimental results show that the S-ARR has a feasible workspace and a relatively smooth motion process, enabling it to achieve supine ankle rehabilitation training.

Global, regional, and national burden of stroke and its risk factors, 1990-2019: a systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019

Valery L. Feigin et al.

Summary: Regularly updated data on stroke including incidence, prevalence, mortality, disability, risk factors, and trends are crucial for evidence-based care planning. The Global Burden of Diseases Study provides comprehensive measurement of these metrics. From 1990 to 2019, while age-standardized rates improved, the number of strokes and deaths increased. Low-income countries had the highest stroke-related mortality and DALY rates, with high body-mass index being the fastest-growing risk factor.
