New genera in the lichenized family Gomphillaceae (Ascomycota: Graphidales) focusing on neotropical taxa

Amanda Barreto Xavier-Leite et al.

Summary: Previous molecular phylogenetic analysis combined with phenotype comparison has identified genus-level clades among Gomphillaceae species. The study reveals 17 clades that need to be formally established as new or reinstated genera.

Phylogenetic revision of the lichenized family Gomphillaceae (Ascomycota: Graphidales) suggests post-K-Pg boundary diversification and phylogenetic signal in asexual reproductive structures

Amanda Barreto Xavier-Leite et al.

Summary: This study presents a broad molecular-phylogenetic revision of the lichenized family Gomphillaceae, based on newly generated sequences. The study identified new genus-level clades and found that the characteristic asexual anamorph called hypho-phores is diagnostic for many of the recognized clades.
