Relationships Among Perceived Social Support, Family Resilience, and Caregiver Burden in Lung Cancer Families: A Mediating Model

Yalin Zhang et al.

Summary: The objectives of this study were to identify the factors associated with caregiver burden in Chinese lung cancer families and to examine whether family resilience mediates the impact of perceived social support on caregiver burden. Data were collected from 213 family caregivers of lung cancer patients in a public hospital in Sichuan Province, China. The results showed that caregiver age, caregiver-patient relationships, and patients' self-care level were influencing factors of caregiver burden, and family resilience mediated the relationship between perceived social support and caregiver burden.

Symptom cluster trajectories and sentinel symptoms during the first cycle of chemotherapy in patients with lung cancer

Xiaodi Ju et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate symptom severity, symptom cluster trajectories and sentinel symptoms during chemotherapy cycle 1 in lung cancer patients. Patients completed the MD Anderson Symptom Inventory and First Appearance of Symptoms Time Sheet daily during the first week of chemotherapy cycle 1. Latent class growth analysis was used to examine symptom cluster trajectories, and the Apriori algorithm was used to determine sentinel symptoms based on the time of first appearance.

Effects of exercise interventions on cancer-related fatigue and quality of life among cancer patients: a meta-analysis

Xiaoli Chen et al.

Summary: Exercise interventions have been found to significantly improve cancer-related fatigue and quality of life among cancer patients, based on a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials. Particularly, aerobic exercise interventions of less than 12 weeks and at a frequency of three times per week have been shown to have the most positive effects. These interventions are especially effective for female cancer patients.

Changes in the symptom clusters of elderly patients with lung cancer over the course of postoperative rehabilitation and their correlation with frailty and quality of life: A longitudinal study

Keyu Chen et al.

Summary: This study aimed to explore changes in symptom clusters among perioperatively elderly patients with lung cancer at different time points and analyze the correlations with frailty and quality of life. Three persistent symptom clusters were found and the severity of symptom clusters was positively correlated with frailty and negatively correlated with quality of life.

The effectiveness of symptom management interventions based on electronic patient-reported outcomes (ePROs) for symptom burden, quality of life, and overall survival among patients with cancer: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

Yunhuan Li et al.

Summary: This study explored the effectiveness of ePRO-based symptom management interventions on cancer patients. The results showed that these interventions can improve symptom burden, quality of life, and overall survival. Targeted interventions for patients undergoing specific treatments were effective in relieving symptom burden and enhancing quality of life. The study suggests that integrating ePRO-based interventions into routine oncology care is beneficial.

Association Between Quality of Life Questionnaire at Diagnosis and Survival in Patients With Lung Cancer

Yu Jin Hong et al.

Summary: Patients with lung cancer experience severe symptoms that affect their quality of life. We evaluated the predictive values of a quality of life questionnaire from 1297 lung cancer patients and found that specific functional scales are positive prognostic factors for survival. These results provide valuable prognostic information for clinicians.

Lung Cancer and Self-Management Interventions: A Systematic Review of Randomised Controlled Trials

Rachel Anne Rowntree et al.

Summary: This review examines the effectiveness of self-management interventions for lung cancer patients. The results show that self-management interventions can improve outcomes for some lung cancer patients, particularly in terms of fatigue, anxiety/depression, sleep quality, self-efficacy, and exercise capacity. Patient characteristics may predict the effectiveness of self-management interventions. Further research is needed on the effectiveness of home-based self-management exercise and self-management tailored to NSCLC stage and sociodemographic variables.

The effectiveness of e-Health interventions on caregiver burden, depression, and quality of life in informal caregivers of patients with cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

Yunhuan Li et al.

Summary: This retrospective analysis of seven randomized controlled trials explored the impact of e-Health interventions on informal caregivers of cancer patients. The meta-analysis results showed that e-Health interventions significantly improved depression and quality of life but had no significant effect on caregiver burden. Sensitivity analysis showed that only caregiver burden was stable.
