Zinc sulfide-chitosan hybrid nanoparticles as a robust surface for immobilization of Sillago sihama a-amylase

Sara Bahri et al.

Summary: In this study, zinc sulfide-chitosan hybrid nanoparticles were used for immobilizing purified alpha-amylase extracted from Sillago sihama. The immobilization process increased the stability and endurance of the enzyme to critical temperatures and pH values. However, it did not affect the optimal temperature and pH values of the enzyme. The kinetic parameters of the enzyme were altered during immobilization, with an increase in K-m and a decrease in catalytic efficiency.

Biophysical characterization of two commercially available preparations of the drug containing Escherichia coli L-Asparaginase 2

Talita Stelling de Araujo et al.

Summary: The hydrolysis of asparagine and glutamine by L-asparaginase has been used in treating acute lymphoblastic leukemia for over four decades. A comparative study of two commercially available preparations of the drug containing Escherichia coli L-Asparaginase 2 (EcA2) showed that the presence of L-Asp in the Aginasa formulation provides resistance to in vitro proteolysis for EcA2. Additionally, the study revealed the oligomeric landscape and conformational diversity of EcA2, as well as insights into ligand recognition by the enzyme.

Circumventing the side effects of L-asparaginase

Marcela Helena Gambim Fonseca et al.

Summary: L-Asparaginase is an enzyme used in the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia, but its toxicity can be reduced by PEGylation and using alternative enzymes from Dickeya chrysanthemi. Alternative approaches also involve exploring new enzyme sources and using protein engineering techniques to create more stable variants with lower immunogenicity.
