SUMMIT: A multi-modal agent-based co-simulation of urban public transport with applications in contingency planning

Nasri Bin Othman et al.

Summary: In this article, we introduce SUMMIT, a platform that simulates multiple modes of public transport using real-world data from Singapore. SUMMIT uses a co-simulation approach and a message passing framework to seamlessly transition between different modes and simulate commuter behavior. We demonstrate one application of SUMMIT in public transport contingency planning, where disruptions in the Singapore MRT network are simulated to evaluate mitigation measures.

A simulation framework for optimizing bike rebalancing and maintenance in large-scale bike-sharing systems

Yu Jin et al.

Summary: Bike-sharing systems have gained worldwide attention for their ability to enhance quality-of-life in cities. This study proposes a simulation framework to evaluate different strategies for bike rebalancing and maintenance. An optimization model is provided as an example, using enhanced k means clustering and an Ant Colony Optimization algorithm. The framework's application extends beyond bike-sharing systems to other shared transportation systems where rebalancing and maintenance optimization are essential.
