Yield calculation for delayed gamma-ray neutron activation analysis

Tongyuan Cui et al.

Summary: A MATLAB-based code named CYANUS is developed to quantitatively evaluate the specific yields of delayed gamma-rays released from neutron irradiated objects in neutron activation analysis (NAA) applications. The comparison with other online programs shows that CYANUS provides the most accurate evaluation of specific gamma-ray yields, indicating its promising potential in NAA applications.

Neutronic calculations and thermalhydraulic application using CFD for the nuclear research reactor NUR at steady state mode

K. Sidi-Ali et al.

Summary: Neutronic calculations are performed for the X-1 configuration of NUR nuclear research reactor core, followed by a CFD thermalhydraulic modeling of the reactor core hot channel. The calculated power peaking factors are introduced into the power distribution equation which is applied to the outer area of the fuel meat. The obtained results confirm that Onset of Nucleate Boiling (ONB) and cladding melting cannot occur under the conditions of the present study.

The low enriched uranium miniature neutron source reactor (LEU-MNSR) neutron spectrum characterization for k0-INAA

B. Osei et al.

Summary: The research reactor in Ghana has been converted from highly enriched uranium to low enriched uranium, resulting in a neutron spectrum that is relatively harder with a marginal increase in high-energy neutrons. The reactor's spectrum parameters were used to validate the k(0)-IAEA software, which showed suitable characterization process and general applicability. Analysis of certified reference materials using routine irradiation scheme demonstrated good quality assurance, with most elements within acceptable u-score limits.
