Summary: In this study, bromocriptine mesylate (BM) was loaded onto chitosan-coated poly epsilon-caprolactone nanoparticles (PCL NPs) for direct targeting to the brain via the nasal route. The optimized 0.25% CS-coated BM-CS-PCL NPs showed high entrapment efficiency and drug load, and displayed a biphasic release pattern.

Organic NPs include lipid-based and polymer-based nanoparticles, while inorganic NPs consist of gold, silver, iron oxide, quantum dots, carbon, and silica-based nanomaterials. Microfluidics provides an attractive alternative for NP synthesis, offering better control in achieving desired properties. This article comprehensively reviews microfluidic-based mixing techniques for NP synthesis and their latest developments, as well as the use of multiscale computer simulations to investigate nanoparticle-based systems. Challenges and future perspectives are also discussed.

Microfluidics offers an attractive synthesis alternative for NPs, providing better control and efficiency in achieving desired properties. This article provides a comprehensive review of microfluidic-based passive and active mixing techniques for NP synthesis, as well as the challenges and future perspectives in this field.

However, liquid interfaces remain unexplored and attractive frontiers in nanotechnology and nanoarchitectonics.

Preparation and characterization of memantine loaded polycaprolactone nanocapsules for Alzheimer's disease

Summary: In this study, a memantine release system based on polycaprolactone nanocapsules (MEM@PCL) was prepared for the first time, with an encapsulation efficiency of 80% as measured by high-performance liquid chromatography analysis. Physicochemical stability studies over 40 days demonstrated that the nanocapsules remained stable in solution without aggregation.

Microfluidic-assisted production of poly(e-caprolactone) and cellulose acetate nanoparticles: effects of polymers, surfactants, and flow rate ratios

Efforts to maximize the EPR effect in developing smarter nanomedicines are essential for successful clinical applications.
