No Equity without Data Equity: Data Reporting Gaps for Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders as Structural Racism

Summary: Data on health and social determinants for Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders (NHPIs) in the US are often hidden or reported in aggregate, leading to limited advocacy, resource allocation, and political power. While there have been improvements in national collection and reporting of NHPI data, federal data gaps and underreporting by states still exist, particularly in COVID-19 cases and deaths. The underrepresentation of NHPIs in resources allocation decisions for at-risk communities, determined by California's Healthy Places Index, highlights the need for equity in NHPI data to achieve health equity and social justice.

Can Sri Lankan Australians Recognise Depression? The Influence of Acculturation, Age and Experiences with Depression on Recognition

Summary: Mental health literacy is crucial for seeking help and improving mental health. However, there may be low levels of mental health literacy among certain migrant communities in Australia. This study conducted a cross-sectional survey to examine mental health literacy in Sri Lankan Australians, finding that approximately 74% of the participants correctly recognized symptoms of depression. Younger age and prior diagnosis of depression were significant predictors of depression recognition. This study highlights the importance of further research and tailored interventions to improve mental health literacy in the diverse Sri Lankan Australian community.

Mental Health Literacy and Mental Health Information-Seeking Behavior in Iranian University Students

Summary: This study investigated the mental health literacy and information-seeking behavior among undergraduate students in Iran. The results showed that the mental health literacy of Iranian students is still insufficient. There was no correlation between disease-oriented mental health literacy and positive mental health literacy. Additionally, although the internet is the main source of mental health knowledge for students, their trust in it is low.

Mental Health Literacy Scale Arabic Version: A Validation Study Among Saudi University Students

The highest and lowest MHL indicators were students' confidence in using technology for mental health information and their beliefs about mental illness as a medical challenge, respectively. The study contributes to the existing evidence for assessing MHL and can assist administrators in improving strategies for enhancing the MHL of university students.
