Experimental and Numerical Analysis on TIG Arc Welding of Stainless Steel Using RSM Approach

Sasan Sattarpanah Karganroudi et al.

Summary: This study validates thermal analysis during TIG Arc welding of 1.4418 steel using finite element analyses (FEA) and experimental approaches. The results show that the suggested numerical model is suitable for the TIG arc welding process. Increasing welding speed shortens the residence time of the arc, reducing bead width and depth of penetration, while the current has the opposite effect.

Investigation on welding distortion in stainless steel sheet using gas tungsten arc welding process

Mohd Hafiza Abdul Kadir et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of welding current and filler rod diameter on the distortion angle, tensile strength, and microstructural changes in TIG welding. Higher welding current and larger diameter filler rods resulted in increased angular distortion of the welds, while the tensile strength increased with welding current. The microstructures of the weld areas showed full penetration joints with no obvious defects.

Experimental investigation on mechanical properties of TIG welded dissimilar AISI 304 and AISI 316 stainless steel using 308 filler rod

A. Ramakrishnan et al.

Summary: The experimental investigation focused on the mechanical properties and microstructure of dissimilar TIG welded AISI 304 and AISI 316, with butt welded joints made at three different current levels. The study revealed that TIG welding at 60A current exhibited the highest Ultimate tensile strength of 528.36 MPa, with the filler metal AISI 308L yielding better mechanical properties and martensite content.

Development of mathematical model and optimization of GMA welding parameters of IS 2062 grade A steel weldments

Saadat Ali Rizvi et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of Gas Metal Arc (GMA) welding process parameters on the mechanical quality of structural steel, utilizing Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and Design Expert software to develop a mathematical model. The experimental results indicated that arc voltage and wire feed speed significantly impact the toughness and hardness of the weldments, while gas flow rate has a minor effect on the quality.
