Formation and structural characterization of two-dimensional wetting water layer on graphite (0001)

Takashi Yamada et al.

Summary: The formation of a wetting layer of water on a graphite surface was investigated. It was found that an extended ice network is formed on graphite, different from that on metal surfaces. Graphite is hydrophobic under ambient conditions, but it is considered inherently hydrophilic for a clean surface.

Graphene on SiC Substrate as Biosensor: Theoretical Background, Preparation, and Characterization

Alexander A. Lebedev et al.

Summary: This work focuses on the development and optimization of graphene-based sensors, successfully growing single-layer graphene films on semi-insulating 6H-SiC substrates with high sensitivity detection of NO2 concentration. The sensor structure was formed on the graphene film and tested for detection of protein molecules.

High Sensitivity Terahertz Biosensor Based on Mode Coupling of a Graphene/Bragg Reflector Hybrid Structure

Yamei Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, a high-sensitivity terahertz biosensor is developed using a graphene/Bragg reflector hybrid structure, utilizing sharp Fano resonance transmission peak created by coupling graphene Tamm plasmons mode to a defect mode. The proposed biosensor is highly sensitive to graphene's Fermi energy, as well as the thickness and refractive index of the sensing medium. By specific parameter settings, the composite structure can function as both a liquid biosensor and a gas biosensor.

Laser-Induced Graphene-Based Enzymatic Biosensor for Glucose Detection

Kalpana Settu et al.

Summary: The study presents a flexible laser-induced graphene-based electrochemical biosensor for glucose detection, showing good amperometric responses over a wide linear range of up to 8 mM. This biosensor, constructed on a polymer substrate by laser engraving, demonstrated high sensitivity and selectivity, making it a promising option for low-cost and rapid glucose detection.
