Oxygen isotope (δ18O) trends measured from Ordovician conodont apatite using secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS): Implications for paleo-thermometry studies

Cole T. Edwards et al.

Summary: This study presents 108 new δO-18 values using SIMS from conodont apatite collected from different stratigraphic successions in North America. The results show that SIMS-based δO-18 values are consistent with published trends and provide valuable information for identifying temperature trends that were not possible with bulk approaches. However, there is an offset between SIMS-based values and bulk values, indicating a need for caution when using SIMS for paleo-temperature reconstructions.

Stratigraphic correlations between the Brabant Massif and the Stavelot, Rocroi and Givonne inliers (Belgium) and geological implications To Michel Vanguestaine, with my respect for his outstanding pioneering work

Alain Herbosch

Summary: This study aims to correlate the chronostratigraphy between the Brabant Massif and the Ardenne inliers in Belgium, by establishing informal acritarch biozones and comparing them with the trilobite (Cambrian) and graptolite (Ordovician) biozonations. The work has allowed for the establishment of a complete chart of stratigraphic correlations between the Brabant Massif and the main Ardenne inliers, providing geological implications of a single sedimentation basin with different basements. New evidence confirms the presence of a Caledonian orogeny in the Ardenne region.
