Modulating the active phase structure of NiMo/Al2O3 by La modification for ultra-deep hydrodesulfurization of diesel

Rixin Yan et al.

Summary: A series of mesoporous NiMo/LaAlOx catalysts with different La contents were synthesized using a solvent evaporation-induced self-assembly method. It was found that the incorporation of La affected the electronic structure and morphology of the NiMoS active phase. A lower amount of La resulted in improved catalytic activity by promoting the formation of the Type II NiMoS phase. However, higher La incorporation led to the generation of inactive phases and a decrease in the proportion of the NiMoS active phase.

Design and Synthesis of Amphiphilic Catalyst [C16mim]5VW12O40Br and Its Application in Deep Desulfurization with Superior Cyclability at Room Temperature

Xiao-Xiao Xing et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of catalysts [Cnmim]5VW12O40Br (CnVW12) with different alkyl chain lengths were used for the catalytic oxidation of dibenzothiophene (DBT) and its derivatives at room temperature. The impact of catalyst amount, oxidant, and temperature on the reaction process were investigated. Among them, C16VW12 exhibited higher catalytic performance, achieving 100% conversion and selectivity in 50 minutes with only 10 mg of catalyst. The mechanism study revealed that the hydroxyl radical played a crucial role in the reaction. Furthermore, the use of a polarity strategy resulted in the accumulation of sulfone products with a yield of approximately 84% and 100% purity after 23 cycles in the C16VW12 system.

Enhancing charge transfer efficiency of cerium-iron oxides via Co regulated oxygen vacancies to boost peroxymonosulfate activation for tetracycline degradation

Zihan Qian et al.

Summary: Enhancing charge transfer efficiency and accelerating the redox cycle improve catalysts' ability to activate peroxymonosulfate (PMS). The cobalt regulated cerium-iron oxides (CFOCo) successfully achieved this by reducing particle size, increasing oxygen vacancies, and generating more reactive oxygen species (ROS). CFO-Co exhibited significantly boosted PMS activation and excellent catalytic performance in various conditions, as well as easy catalyst recovery. The introduction of cobalt reduced PMS adsorption energy on the catalyst and promoted ROS production. This work provides a new perspective on the design of PMS-activated catalysts.
