Summary: This study finds that smartphone use has varying impacts on pesticide and fertilizer expenditures, with a larger effect on pesticide expenditures than on fertilizer expenditures. The effects of smartphone use on pesticide and fertilizer expenditures differ across different quantiles, indicating a heterogeneous relationship between smartphone use and agrochemical expenditures.

Summary: This study examines the impact of Internet use on chemical fertilizer use in developing economies using a nationwide dataset from 7766 rural households in China. The results show that Internet use reduces chemical fertilizer use by increasing farmers' human capital. Additionally, Internet promotion policy can also help reduce farmers' reliance on chemical fertilizers.
