New Insights into the Nucleon's Electromagnetic Structure

Yong-Hui Lin et al.

Summary: The study combined analysis of the electromagnetic form factors of nucleon using dispersion theory, providing consistent description of experimental data. The statistical uncertainties of the extracted form factors are estimated using the bootstrap method, while systematic errors are determined from variations of the spectral functions. The results show good agreement with previous analyses and provide insights into future experimental directions.

Light mesons with one dynamical gluon on the light front

Jiangshan Lan et al.

Summary: This article obtains the mass spectroscopy of light mesons from the light-front quantum chromodynamics (QCD) Hamiltonian, determined for their constituent quark-antiquark and quark-antiquark-gluon Fock components, together with a three-dimensional confinement. The eigenvectors of the light-front effective Hamiltonian provide a good quality description of the pion electromagnetic form factor, decay constant, and the valence quark distribution functions following QCD scale evolution.

Measurement of the Nucleon F2n/F2p Structure Function Ratio by the Jefferson Lab MARATHON Tritium/Helium-3 Deep Inelastic Scattering Experiment

D. Abrams et al.

Summary: The MARATHON experiment determines the ratio of the nucleon F-2 structure functions, F-2(n)/F-2(p), through measurements of deep inelastic scattering of electrons from H-3 and He-3 nuclei. The experiment achieves significant improvements compared to previous measurements and compares the results to theoretical calculations and empirical determinations of the ratio.

Signature of the Gluon Orbital Angular Momentum

Shohini Bhattacharya et al.

Summary: We propose a novel observable to detect the gluon orbital angular momentum (OAM) that constitutes the proton spin sum rule experimentally. We investigate the longitudinal double spin asymmetry in exclusive dijet production in electron-proton scattering and find that the cos 0 azimuthal angle correlation between the scattered electron and proton is a sensitive probe of the gluon OAM at small x and its interplay with the gluon helicity. We also provide a numerical estimate of the cross section for the Electron-Ion Collider kinematics.

Science Requirements and Detector Concepts for the Electron-Ion Collider

R. Abdul Khalek et al.

Summary: This report describes the physics case, detector requirements, and evolving detector concepts for the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) experimental program. The EIC will be a new facility in the United States with the capability to collide high-energy electron beams with high-energy proton and ion beams, providing access to regions dominated by gluons. The use of polarized beams in the EIC will allow for unprecedented access to the spatial and spin structure of particles. The report aims to advance the physics program and develop detector concepts that meet the requirements for the EIC.

How well do we know the gluon polarization in the proton?

Y. Zhou et al.

Summary: In this study, the first simultaneous global QCD analysis of spin-averaged and spin-dependent parton distribution functions (PDFs) was performed, including single jet production data from unpolarized and polarized hadron collisions. The impact of SU(3) flavor symmetry and PDF positivity assumptions on the quark and gluon helicity PDFs was critically assessed, revealing significant bias on gluon polarization. The simultaneous analysis enables the extraction of individual helicity-aligned and antialigned PDFs with consistent treatment of uncertainties.

M. S. Abdallah et al.

Summary: This study reports measurements of the longitudinal double-spin asymmetry for inclusive jet and dijet production in polarized proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 510 GeV. The measurements provide further constraints on the x dependence and shape of the polarized gluon distribution function.

Angular momentum and generalized parton distributions for the proton with basis light-front quantization

Yiping Liu et al.

Summary: We study the generalized parton distributions (GPDs) for the valence quarks of the proton in both momentum space and position space using the basis light-front quantization (BLFQ) framework. By computing the GPDs from the eigenvectors of a light-front effective Hamiltonian, we obtain the spatial distributions of quark angular momentum inside the proton. The paper also explores various definitions of angular momentum density and discusses the flavor contributions to the quark angular momentum densities.

Parton distributions from LHC, HERA, Tevatron and fixed target data: MSHT20 PDFs

S. Bailey et al.

Summary: The new MSHT20 set of parton distribution functions (PDFs) of the proton, determined from global analyses of hard scattering data, includes updates such as improved parameterizations, new precise data, and NNLO QCD corrections. The NNLO fit is strongly favored over the NLO due to wider range and increased precision of data included in the fit, resulting in reduced uncertainties in predictions for processes such as Higgs, top quark pair, and W, Z production at post LHC Run-II energies.

Electron-ion collider in China

Daniele P. Anderle et al.

Summary: The EicC project in China proposes to construct an Electron-ion collider based on an upgraded heavy-ion accelerator, providing highly polarized electrons and protons with variable center of mass energies. The main goals include precise measurements of nucleon structure, partonic structure of nuclei, interaction with nuclear environment, and exotic states with heavy flavor quark contents. A hermetical detector system with cutting-edge technologies will be constructed to achieve these physics goals.

Simultaneous Monte Carlo analysis of parton densities and fragmentation functions

E. Moffat et al.

Summary: The study performs a comprehensive Monte Carlo analysis of high-energy scattering data to determine parton distribution functions and parton to hadron fragmentation functions in the proton. By employing a new fitting strategy and parametrizations, the analysis evaluates the impact of different datasets on sea quark densities and confirms the suppression of the strange quark distribution previously observed. This new fit, referred to as JAM20-SIDIS, will allow for improved studies of parton correlation functions and the matching of collinear to TMD factorization descriptions across various processes.

Tie-Jiun Hou et al.

Summary: The new parton distribution functions (PDFs) from the CTEQ-TEA collaboration are determined using a wide variety of high-precision Large Hadron Collider (LHC) data, in addition to other datasets. These PDFs are analyzed at next-to-leading order and next-to-next-to-leading order, with error sets determined using the Hessian method. The data sensitivity and preference towards quantities such as α(s)(m(Z)), and the gluon and strange quark distributions are quantified using fast PDF survey techniques.
