Triazine-containing polytriphenylimidazolium network for heterogeneous catalysis of CO2 conversion to cyclic carbonates

Summary: Novel triazine-linked triphenylimidazole (TPIM) and triphenylimidazolium (TPIM-IL) monomers were synthesized and used to form PTPIM and PTPIM-IL networks via Friedel-Crafts alkylation reaction. The resulting networks exhibited high specific surface areas and PTPIM network could be easily transformed into PTPIM-IL network through post-modification. PTPIM-IL network showed high CO2 uptake capacity and excellent catalytic activity for the cycloaddition of CO2 to epoxides.
