Significance of Mn concentration on aging behavior, microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of Fe-Ni-Mn alloys

Novin Rasooli et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of Mn concentration on the microstructural evolution, aging behavior, and mechanical properties of Fe-10Ni-xMn alloys. The results showed that samples with 3.5 and 6 wt.% Mn exhibited age-hardenability during aging, and higher Mn content resulted in higher hardness and strength. Samples with about 9 wt.% Mn remained stable as austenite phase at room temperature, achieving a good combination of strength and ductility without age-hardening.

Effect of SPS Sintering Process on Compressive Strength and Magnetic Properties of CoCuFeMnNi Bulk Alloy

Xiaowu Nie et al.

Summary: CoCuFeMnNi bulk nanocrystalline alloy was prepared using mechanical alloying and spark plasma sintering. The effects of sintering parameters on the compressive strength and magnetic properties of the alloy were investigated. The compressive strength initially increased and then decreased with the increase of heating rate and pressing time, while the saturation magnetic induction strength increased and the coercivity initially decreased and then increased with the increase of sintering temperature and pressing time.

Effect of fabrication methods on microstructures, mechanical properties and strengthening mechanisms of Fe0.25CrNiAl medium-entropy alloy

Danni Yang et al.

Summary: The effect of fabrication methods on microstructures, mechanical properties, and strengthening mechanisms of high-entropy alloys was systematically studied. Different fabrication methods have little effect on the main phase compositions of Fe0.25CrNiAl MEA, but significant impacts on microstructures, mechanical properties, and strengthening mechanisms were observed.

Influence of oxygen induced during high-energy ball milling process on the mechanical properties of sintered nickel by SPS

Arnaud Bolsonella et al.

Summary: Starting from micrometric pure nickel powder, high-energy ball milling process and Spark Plasma Sintering technique allow the production of dense nanostructured materials. Milling under argon confinement limits the surface oxidation of particles, providing a nanostructured dense material with a significant improvement of true ductility.

Summary: The nanocrystalline Fe70Ni12B16Si2 (at.%) alloy was prepared by mechanical alloying and showed the formation of body-centered cubic and faced-centered cubic solid solution phases during high-energy milling. Annealing at 650℃ improved the magnetic properties by reducing coercivity and increasing saturation magnetization.

Effect of High Pressure and Temperature on the Evolution of Si Phase and Eutectic Spacing in Al-20Si Alloys

Rong Zhang et al.

Summary: The microstructure of the Si phase in Al-20Si alloys solidified under high pressure was investigated. The results showed that the morphology of Si phase changed with the increase in superheat temperature, and a mathematical model was developed to analyze the spacing variation of the lamellar Al-Si eutectics under pressure. The eutectic spacing decreased as pressure increased, and the volume change of the solute phase from liquid to solid influenced the eutectic spacing relationship.
