Dual antiplatelet therapy duration after percutaneous coronary intervention in high bleeding risk: a meta-analysis of randomized trials

Francesco Costa et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the impact of an abbreviated dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) regimen in high bleeding risk patients after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), using existing evidence. It found that a shorter DAPT duration (1-3 months) reduced bleeding and cardiovascular mortality without increasing ischemic events in these patients.

The use of dual antiplatelet therapy for ischemic cerebrovascular events

Francesco Mele et al.

Summary: In the past decade, the use of dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) has been explored in patients with non-cardioembolic ischemic stroke, transient ischemic attack (TIA), and intracranial atherosclerotic disease. Several clinical trials have shown that the addition of clopidogrel or ticagrelor to aspirin can reduce the risk of stroke recurrence in these patients. DAPT has also been evaluated as a treatment for stroke associated with atherosclerotic intracranial stenosis, showing favorable outcomes compared to other interventions. This article reviews these trials and provides a practical algorithm for clinicians, while highlighting potential limitations and areas of further research.

Randomized controlled trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of fexuprazan compared with esomeprazole in erosive esophagitis

Kang Nyeong Lee et al.

Summary: Fexuprazan 40 mg is non-inferior to esomeprazole 40 mg in healing erosive esophagitis at week 8. The study suggests that Fexuprazan may be a promising alternative treatment option to PPIs for patients with erosive esophagitis.

Readmissions Rates After Myocardial Infarction for Gastrointestinal Bleeding: A National Perspective

Kamesh Gupta et al.

Summary: The 30-day incidence of GI bleeding after AMI is 0.3%, with 60% of cases involving lower GI bleeding. Independent predictors of readmission include age, Charlson comorbidity score, history of chronic kidney disease, GI tumor, inflammatory bowel disease, and artificial heart valve.

Prospective Comparison of the AIMS65 Score, Glasgow-Blatchford Score, and Rockall Score for Predicting Clinical Outcomes in Patients with Variceal and Nonvariceal Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding

Arunchai Chang et al.

Summary: The AIMS65 score outperforms the GBS and RS in predicting mortality for UGIB patients, and accurately predicts the need for blood transfusion and the composite endpoint for VUGIB patients. However, no scoring system could satisfactorily predict rebleeding in all UGIB patients.
