This review succinctly describes the advancements in design, development, and imaging performance of dbPET scanners, highlighting their potential and clinical applications in breast disease diagnosis.
This review succinctly describes a number of efforts that have advanced the design, development, and imaging performance of dbPET scanners. Until the past decade the efforts were largely academic. A few commercial options with spatial resolution in the 1.5 to 2 mm range, and the ability to provide tomographic, and quantitative data are now available. Hopefully the recent advances in dbPET coupled with the availability of newer breast-specific radiotracers can help continue this momentum and result in larger trials to confirm its potential and possibly increased clinical adoption.
