Shvo-Catalyzed Hydrogenation of CO2 in the Presence or Absence of Ionic Liquids for Tandem Reactions

Qiongyao Chen et al.

Summary: This study reveals the role of ionic liquids (ILs) in promoting the dissociation of Shvo's catalyst and enhancing the rate of carbon monoxide (CO) production. These CO molecules are then used in the tandem hydroformylation-reduction of alkenes, resulting in the production of valuable alcohols. Additionally, the absence of ILs allows for the formation of formamides through N-formylation of primary or secondary amines.
