Distributed multi-objective day-ahead generation and HVDC transmission joint scheduling for two-area HVDC-linked power grids

Jinquan Zhao et al.

Summary: In order to enhance the overall operation economy and efficiency of two-area HVDC-linked power grids, a distributed scheduling approach is proposed in this paper for the multi-objective day-ahead generation and HVDC transmission joint scheduling problem. The method transforms the multi-objective problem into a series of single-objective ones using the normal boundary intersection method and establishes a distributed scheduling model based on the synchronous alternating direction method of multipliers. Case studies demonstrate the effectiveness of the algorithm in a two-area interconnected test system via two HVDC tie-lines.

An Optimal Frequency Control Method of Asynchronous Power Grid Considering Multi-HVDC Emergency Power Support

Yi Hu et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an optimal control method based on wide-area measurements (WAMS) for improving frequency stability in asynchronous power grids. The control method takes into account the influence on power flow, node voltage, and other grid frequency fluctuations. By establishing a steady-state frequency prediction model and an optimization model, the paper provides a control strategy that minimizes frequency deviation and ensures the security of line power flow and node voltage. Simulation results validate the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed frequency stability control.

Long Peng et al.

Summary: The study proposes a method to estimate the LCC-HVDC maximum emergency power capacity by real-time tracking the Thevenin equivalent parameters based on local PMUs, enabling accurate calculation after a large disturbance. By investigating the impacts of TE potential changes on TE impedance estimation and developing adaptive current screening processes and total least square estimation methods, estimation errors caused by TE potential changes can be reduced.

Hanyan Huang et al.

Summary: This paper proposes to exploit potential flexibility in large-scale wind power integration by controlling power flows through HVDC and HVAC transmission switching, with a SCED model to optimize generation and TS in a wind integrated hybrid AC/DC power system. Multiple uncertainties are considered in a linear power flow model of the DC grid, transformed into a two-stage robust optimization model for iterative solution. Case studies show that optimizing power flow distribution through TS and HVDC transmission power can greatly reduce operating costs.
