This article provides an overview of the translations and adaptations of "The Liberation of Jerusalem" in Spain and examines it from the perspective of the problem of heroic poetry in the 16th and early 17th centuries. By analyzing the writing and dissemination of the poem, the study focuses on the versions by Juan Sedeno and Bartolome Cairasco de Figueroa, and also discusses the earliest adaptations of the century and some peculiarities of its imitation in our literature.
Resumen El articulo ofrece un panorama de las traducciones y adaptaciones de la Gerusalemme liberata en Espana y plantea su estudio desde la perspectiva del problema de la poesia heroica en el Quinientos y principios del Seiscientos. A partir del analisis de las circunstancias de escritura y difusion del poema, el estudio se detiene en las versiones de Juan Sedeno y Bartolome Cairasco de Figueroa y atiende finalmente a las adaptaciones mas tempranas que conocio el siglo y a algunas particularidades de su imitacion en nuestras letras.
